Man losing sleep

This month’s free webinar from the Michael J Fox Foundation will discuss sleeping problems and how this can affect those living with Parkinson’s

The latest instalment of the Michael J Fox Foundation Third Thursday webinar series will focus on sleeping problems in Parkinson’s. The online seminar will be broadcast on 18 May at 12:00 EST.

In this episode host Dave Iverson, principal moderator for Partners in Parkinson’s, is joined by Carlos Singer, professor of neurology at the University of Miami.

Parkinson’s can have a major impact on an individual’s sleeping pattern due to both the side effects of medication and the condition’s symptoms. In this hour-long podcast, the experts discuss the importance of understanding and treating sleep problems.

In a short preview, Professor Singer says: “You need to try and understand the mechanism by which something is happening. And you have to approach things with a very open mind, not being very dogmatic, because sleep is so varied.”

Professor Singer will offer advice to those who experience a variety of sleep-related problems, such as urinary urgency, restless leg syndrome and insomnia.

It’s free to join the live webinar, just register here up to 15 minutes before it starts. Listeners are encouraged join the discussion by submitting their own questions in real time. If you cannot listen to the live broadcast, you can catch up via the recording in the library archive here.
